"It was a long day at work. I came back home and the only thought in my mind was to relax on the bed swing which was hung in the coziest corner of my home. There is a fireplace in my reading room. I love to read and the chilling winter of Himachal Pradesh makes the fireplace a perfect addition to my home. I bought this beautiful Lush Lux Pink macrame swing which was the ideal choice for my personal space.
I was relaxing in my swing, reading my favorite book Ikigai, and sipping on some hot coffee, a perfect combination when it happened. I dropped some coffee on my swing. It was a dreadful experience. For a few seconds, I was too shocked to move but when it dawned on me what had happened, panic hit me. I felt hopeless as I saw the large coffee stain spreading on my beautiful pink macrame swing.
I tried pouring some water on the swing hoping it would work but it didn't. I regretted not being careful enough and felt a piece of art that was so dear and close to me would go to waste. I wished for a savior to make my day and undo the mistake I made. Needed to clean my swing. I needed help in removing the stains."
This is the story of one of our favorite swing-enjoyers, who later reached out to us for a solution. We helped her out and realized there are many such stories of people needing help with the maintenance of their lovely swings. Thus, the solutions provided below would suit the needs of everyone facing such issues.
Your macrame swing requires care and regular maintenance. Don’t expose your swing to direct sunlight. Another great tip would be to dust the swing at least twice a week. It helps keep the swing look fresh by preventing dust from building up and also protects the fabric. The dusting process doesn’t require much time. Always a pro tip to look after your ropes and keep your swing dry to prevent mold from growing. Avoid keeping the swing outside, especially during extreme weather conditions.
Make sure to have the following items for cleaning your swing:
- Any solvent (e.g. Dettol, Tide etc,)
- A brush and some dry towels
- Water
- Vinegar (in case of white swings)
Before starting the cleaning process make sure the cushions are removed and the swing is detached. Minor dirt stains can be removed by using some wet wipes. Mattresses and cushions can be hand-washed.
For some small stains, mix some solvent or detergent in warm water. Dip a brush in the solution and gently apply it to the stain. Let it rest for a while and then wipe away the residue with a dry towel. For natural white swings, utilize a mix of vinegar and water. Scrub and rinse like we did before.
Sometimes there is a large stain or the swing might require deep cleaning. In that case, spread out your swing on a large cloth or towel. Use the solution of solvent and water on the entire swing and scrub using a soft-bristled brush. Rinse the swing with clean water which is neither too warm nor too cold and use a dry cloth to remove excess water. Make sure the swing is completely dry before using it again.
Your swing represents you. It's your pride and joy. Your own space and thus we know how important it is for you to keep it neat. Follow the instructions we provided for deep clean above to keep your wonderful comfort zone well-maintained for you to enjoy.
